Marketing for the OnePlus One is a little different to say the least. You can only buy the phone online from OnePlus. You also need to receive an invitation to buy one; either by asking someone who has bought a OnePlus phone previously (anyone who buys a OnePlus One will receive invitations to give out to friends and family), or alternatively, by entering competitions and promotional events hosted on the OnePlus Forums or social media channels.
In keeping with the OnePlus One’s highly unusual marketing strategy, the rear of the handset is made from an almost fabric-like material; some users have described it as being almost like carpet!
The phone measures 153 x 76 x 8.9mm and weighs 162g. It features a 5.5in IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display with 16M colours. The screen is sharp and clear due to the 1080 x 1920 pixels, resulting in a pixel density of 401 ppi.
The One comes with two storage options; 16GB and 64GB. Business mobile phone users may be disappointed to find that there is no expandable storage. The phone however does come with a large Li-Po 11.8Wh (3100 mAh) battery. In tests, after light use, 24 hours after charging 67 percent of the battery life was left, and after 48 hours of heavier use, including streaming video clips, using Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, battery life was still set at 39 percent. This makes the handset well worth a look if, as a business user, battery life is an important consideration.
