The update will also be adding more depth to the maps feature, allowing you to look inside of buildings. Not all locations will be available to start with, although London – as well as Gatwick and Heathrow airports – are already functional. Apple is trying to add as many more locations as possible within the next few months.
Improvements to Live Photos include a host of new features to play around with. For example, the ‘Loop’ feature creates an infinite video loop with your photos, and ‘bounce’ plays your photo before then reversing it.
The iPhone X will also have a special 3-D animated emoji feature, which will record your facial expressions and movements using the iPhone’s face-scanning capabilities and then produce an emoji that mimics what you’re doing. You’ll then be able to send this to your contacts via iMessage.
If you currently own any iPhone model previous to the iPhone 8, you’ll have to run a software update – but any iPhone later than the 8 will have the new IOS pre-installed already.
