We are only in May yet the rumours on the highly anticipated iPhone 6S release later this year have reached new heights in the last few weeks.
Traditionally scheduled for UK shelves in mid-September, inside information from ‘Technews’ indicates that the new iPhone may be with us sooner rather than later – early August has been mooted to be Apple’s preferred month as they have hinted they are ahead of schedule with the iPhone 6S.
We are patiently trying to sift through the thousands of rumours spread all over the web, separating out the myths to highlight to you which potential new features the new model will have.
One of the biggest changes Apple are looking to make with this year’s upgrade may seem unappealing to some; a big upgrade of RAM is rumoured moving from 1GB in the Iphone 6 to 2GB in the 6S. This is obviously a performance related change, but it could be a brilliant move.
More RAM allows apps to open and perform quicker, especially when several of them are open and operating at once. By doubling the amount of RAM in the new model, Apple could potentially be offering an Iphone up to four times faster than ever before and on top of that, it should use 35% less energy meaning extended battery life.
This increase of RAM would also lend weight to the story that a major change to the operating system will be coming with the release of iOS 9, as it begins to merge ever closer to OS X. More power is needed in the next generation of iPhones due to these big changes, but some of that power will have to be siphoned off to Apple’s Force Touch – already built into the iWatch and new Macbook to recognise the pressure of your touches, it is believed to be a key feature of the 6S.
Other rumoured changes include an upgrade to a high resolution 12-megapixel camera, the option of a rose gold coloured Iphone and the potential return of a 4-inch iPhone – the 6C. All in all, it is difficult to say for certain what features are definitely going to be included on the 6S as naturally Apple keeps its cards close to its chest.
However, we can say for certain that we could be in for a huge step up in iPhone performance and longevity as Apple continues to improve on their already impressive design.
