Samsung report that pre-orders for their latest flagship phone – the S8, are 30% higher than those for the Galaxy S7 which was released last year.
Industry insiders claim that the Samsung Galaxy S8 was designed to be in competition to Apple’s iPhone and when you review many of its key improved features; it is easy to see why.
Infinity Display
The S8 features an incredible infinity display which offers a large, rich colour, almost bezel free screen which provides a superb viewing experience. Reviewers such as TechRadar have reported that ‘The screen is just brilliant – the clearest, sharpest and offers lovely colour reproduction to make movie watching a dream’
The world's first 10nm processor
Other improvements that Samsung have made to both the S8 and the S8+ is to include a better processor – the world’s first 10nm processor, the ability to unlock your phone with either facial or iris recognition and an upgrade to the camera (however, unlike many of the devices that are set for release or have already been released, there is no dual-lens camera)
Biometrics
The biometric feature of using iris or facial recognition can be a bit hit and miss, but for those that are not convinced or are not willing to use this, a simple fingerprint touch or alternatively the old school 4 digit pin will unlock your phone.
There have been some teething problems for Samsung as some S8 owners (who had pre-ordered the device and had received it prior to the worldwide release date) have reported that there seems to be a ‘red tint’ to the screen. In South Korea, ‘Galaxy S8 Red Screen’ even started trending on Naver (Korea’s leading search engine) Samsung have acknowledged the issues and have provided a software fix to affected devices.
Wireless charging
Samsung say that the S8 and the S8+ is a ‘new standard for better-performing phones’ which will make apps launch faster, reduces power consumption by 20% and it will also improve battery life. You will be able to use your S8 and S8+ for longer with each charge, thanks to the better performing processor which coupled with the wireless charging capabilities, makes both models incredibly convenient.
Faster download speeds
Both the Samsung AS8 and S8+ are Gigabit LTE and Gigabit Wi-Fi read which means that you get 20% faster download speeds, which will mean downloading big files is significantly quicker.
Audiophiles will not be disappointed as both the S8 and the S8+ feature premium-quality 32-bit PCM and DSD64/128 playback support. The included earphones not only offers high-quality sound, but they are more comfortable and fit better too.
Come rain or shine
One of the many innovative features for the Samsung S8 and the S8+ is that it is water resistant up to 1.5 metres of water for 30 minutes, therefore if you get caught in the rain without an umbrella, your phone will still work, thanks to its IP68-rated water and dust resistance.
Magnificent memory
Fed up of having to constantly delete your music, apps and photos? Both the Samsung S8 and the S8+ have an expandable memory of up to 256GB, therefore making deleting an option and not a necessity.
If you are looking for a new phone with amazing processing capabilities, a large sharp screen and much-improved battery life, then the S8+ is definitely the way to go.
Similarly to the S8+, the S8 offers superb battery life (undoubtedly one of the best on the market) the same unrivalled processing capabilities and (like the S8+) it features a stunning curved design, glass back and comes with amazing technology too.
