The HTC One M8 has a uni-body aluminium design but this time HTC have wrapped the metal around to the front instead of having a plastic strip around the edge. The metal has a brushed look which is treated to give it a glossy finish, and the phone has curved edges, so it looks smart and highly professional; infact the One M8 looks and feels like a premium business mobile phone.
The M8 has a larger screen, resulting in a phone that is taller and slightly wider than its predecessor. Weighing in at 160g it is one of the heavier smartphones available.
The M8 features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor. The 801 quad-core chip has a clock speed of 2.3GHz. Users have reported excellent results with regard to the phone’s performance. Compared to it’s predecessor, the HTC One M8 has improved performance in all areas; synthetic scores are up by about 30 percent, frame rates have increased and web browsing times have more than halved.
Business users often need more storage. To accommodate this, the M8 has a microSD card slot which will accept cards of up to 128GB.
When tested the One M8’s battery lasted for around 24 hours. This was with average use: a few phone calls, text messages, some web browsing, some gaming and watching short videos. This means that you can probably expect to leave the One M8 on charge every night, although it does boast an ‘Extreme Power Saving Mode’ which the company state will ensure that the handset lasts up to 30 hours from a 10 percent charge; perfect if your business keeps you away from access to a power socket for long periods.
