How to adjust to returning to the office

Stay safe

First and foremost, it’s essential to make sure everyone feels safe and comfortable in the workplace. Ensuring the office is kept well ventilated, providing hand sanitiser, and keeping colleagues spaced out where possible are all important steps to take. Listen to your staff and take feedback on board, while being as accommodating as possible.

For people who’ve not been in the office for a long time (some won’t have been in since March 2020!), this is probably going to be a period of adjustment and change. Whether you’re inviting your staff back on a full-time basis, or implementing hybrid working, listening to what people need is going to play a big part in easing them back into office life.

Make sure your IT systems are up to scratch

At the start of the pandemic when we all had to suddenly adapt to remote working, one of the biggest challenges a lot of us faced was creating a WFH setup that was fit for purpose. Whether companies needed additional hardware or assistance with setting up a virtual private network (VPN) so they could connect remotely to their work network, the IT experts at Town & Country were on hand to help.

Now, as we prepare to adjust back to pre-pandemic office life (or a new combination of remote and office working), the team at Town & Country are here to help once more. If you’re getting ready to open your offices back up and need help with your hardware setup – or any other IT issues – please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us. Once you’re back in the office, you may wish to explore a monthly IT support contract. That way, you’ll have the peace of mind of knowing that you have 24/7 access to our dedicated help desk.

Give the office a refresh

Your IT systems aren’t the only thing that might need a bit of a refresh. If your office has been empty for the past 18 months, the chances are that it might need a little bit of TLC. Why not book a deep clean to make sure the office is sparkling before your staff return? Just keep your fingers crossed that no one left anything in the fridge…

Don’t forget about your phone systems

A lot of companies are finding that a cloud-based phone system is more suited to the way they now do business than a traditional phone line. This will give you greater flexibility if you have colleagues who are still working from home, or you plan to introduce hybrid working. This type of phone system is also more cost-effective and completely scalable, capable of growing and adapting to fit your business.

If you’re thinking of upgrading your phone system, we can help. Get in touch with our friendly team today on 01202 514444.
