A survey of 511 executives conducted by Forbes found that nine out of ten executives used their smartphone for business, even while they were sat in their office next to a latop or computer. Why? Speed, efficiency, mobility and functionality.
As long as there are mobile-enabled versions of the required applications, there is very little that can’t be done on a smartphone that can’t be done on a PC.
The only true challenge facing business mobile use is multitasking, especially if you are taking a call. The way round this issue is potentially with a bluetooth earpiece, but without that it is very difficult and you can wave goodbye to long battery life.
Ultimately, it is technically possible to run most – if not all – of a business from a smartphone. For many executives, it may be more productive than using a laptop or PC.
It may be the case that executive office spaces of the future will have a desk with no laptop or monitor in sight – a clear sign of corporate standing.
