BlackBerry Z30

Feedback on the Z30 is mixed. Some reviewers found that the build quality of the Z30 was good, but not exceptional, and they struggled to navigate the huge display; having to use two hands the majority of the time. However, they did find that the clip-on rear panel, with it’s carbon-fibre effect, was non-slip so easy to hold. 

The Z30 is powered by an ARM dual-core processor from Qualcomm, clocked at 1.7 GHz and backed with an ample 2 GB of memory. For additional storage, the Z30 also includes a microSDXC slot. 

All interaction with the Z30 is via gestures so navigating the BlackBerry is quite different to other smartphones. From the darkened screen, you swipe upwards to wake up the phone, you then swipe up to the left to reveal a grid of loaded apps, and swipe down from the top to get immediate access to Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Settings, Alarm, Rotation Lock and Notifications. Swiping from the left brings up the BlackBerry Hub, from where you can access your messaging services, including telephone, email, text, social network updates (read only), and BBM.

Battery life, an important consideration for business users, is at the higher end of the larger business mobile phone spectrum. Intensive use led to the phone retaining it’s charge for between one and two days, although used less often you could manage almost three days without recharging.
