What Microsoft 365 Apps for Business Come Included?
Apple have unveiled the new £1000 iPhone X, the latest generation of its flagship device along with the much-anticipated iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. There is a choice of two colours – silver and space grey.
The iPhone X has an all-glass edge-to-edge 5.8 inch ‘super retina’ display and no home button. It unlocks using facial recognition software which is also used to authenticate Apple Pay too and can also be charged wirelessly. The X celebrates the 10th anniversary of the Apple iPhone and utilises innovative technology and a significant redesign. Apple said it has been its goal to create "an iPhone that is all display" and the nearly bezel-free design certainly achieves this goal.
As well as the 7MP front facing selfie camera (complete with facial recognition) the iPhone X also has a dual-lens rear facing camera too. It also features a unique portrait lighting feature machine which ‘creates facial landmarks and enhances light effects on the face’. Apple have revealed that the iPhone X will be kitted out for augmented reality too.
One of the most intriguing features is the Animoji software which is a new form of moving emoji that can be tailored using the facial recognition software. X users will be able to scan their face and the animoji software will match their expression in a short animation. Users can choose from a wide selection of animojis including a unicorn, cat, dog, pig and monkey.
With regards to power, the iPhone X will feature an A11 bionic chip, more powerful than the chip within other devices and will run on iOS 11 which will include a range of new features such as peer-to-peer Apple pay, a fresh look control centre and Siri translation.
Apple will be releasing two versions of the iPhone X, a 64GB version and a 256GB version, costing £999 and £1149 respectively. The iPhone X will be available for pre-orders on October 27th and then will be available from November 3rd.
As well as the iPhone X, Apple have also launched the new iPhone 8 which are similar in appearance to its predecessor the iPhone 7. The iPhone 8 features a 4.7-inch screen and has a glass front. In fact, Apple say that "The new iPhone will have the most durable glass ever in a smartphone." and is both dust and water resistant.
Apple says it uses a seven-layer colour process for its glass finish, which is colour-matched to the aerospace-grade aluminium bezel.
The iPhone 8 will come in three colours – silver, blush gold and space grey and will feature an HD retina display and a 12MB camera. Apple has also claimed that the new camera delivers “the highest quality video capture ever in a smartphone” with better video stabilisation and 4K video up to 60fps. The camera also features Portrait Lighting functionality, which uses depth-mapping to add studio lighting effects to your photographs.
Apple have introduced wireless charging capabilities where the iPhone 8 can be charged by placing the device on a power pad – a first for the iPhone range.
With regards to sound, improvements have been made to its stereo speakers, which are now 25 percent louder than iPhone 7 and have a deeper bass.
The iPhone 8 will be available for pre-order on September 15th and will cost £699 for the entry level iPhone 8 which comes with 65GB of storage. For the 256GB model, you can expect to pay £849.
Both the iPhone 8 and the iPhone 8 Plus will feature True Tone displays from the iPad Pro and will be powered by the A11 Bionic CPU which is rumoured to be 25% faster than the A10 found in the iPhone 7.
The iPhone 8 Plus is a 5.5-inch iPhone that is set to be released worldwide on September 22nd, but can be pre-ordered from September 15th and will be priced at £799 for the 64GB version. Like the iPhone 8, the iPhone 8 Plus will be available in three core colours – gold, silver and space grey. The design is like previous iPhones and features a glass back which accommodates wireless charging.
It features two 12MP sensors and like all of the iPhone devices that have been released to commemorate the ten-year anniversary of the iPhone, features wireless charging.
“No other devices in our lifetime have had the impact on the world that the iPhone has,” Apple CEO Tim Cook said and we have to say that we have to agree.
