Gaming is predicted to accumulate a whopping $108.9 billion (£83 billion) this year, with the mobile and tablet gaming sector set to make up 42% of this total. With such a growing public demand for mobile gaming, Razer has entered the market with its smartphone “for gamers by gamers”, which aims to deliver a perfect gaming and entertainment experience.

Whilst many smartphones, like iPhone and Galaxy models, are perfectly capable of running games, Razer believes that their technology gives them the edge over the competition. Not only will it have what is now the standard – Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, 8GB of RAM, 64BG of storage, microSD slot and dual 12-megapixel cameras on the back – it also has a 4,000 mAh battery, one of the largest available to smartphones.

What makes it perfect for gaming is the use of UltraMotion technology and Quad HD display, delivering refresh rates up to 120HZ. This is double that of competitors and makes it similar to PC gaming technology. This will allegedly annihilate lag in game performance and provide a vibrant, sharp image. This is backed by dual amplifiers which promise “a cinematic sound experience.”

Inspired by laptop technology, a heat pipe and two layers of thermal shielding turn the phone into a “heat sink”, which allows the phone to remain in “high performance mode for a lot longer”, according to Tom Moss, head of Razer’s mobile business. Moss claims that Razer does not have goals to tackle Apple or Samsung for the top spot in mobile technology, but to be taken seriously by public and manufacturers alike.

The Razer phone will be available from 14th November at £699 and is available for pre-order from 3rd November.
